From day one, you'll be a full member of the team, contributing your technical or scientific expertise to safeguarding our clients' innovations.

What You Can Expect from Us

Practice-oriented training – At least 26 months "on the job" with a patent attorney or patent assessor
Accompanying studies – FernUniversität Hagen + study groups for patent attorney candidates
Structured training in three stages:
- First stage – Introduction to all relevant IP rights: patents, trade marks, designs
- Second stage – Two months at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA)
- Third stage – Six months at the Federal Patent Court

After just under three years, you will be optimally prepared to sit the patent attorney examination and obtain your admission to the patent attorney profession.

Even More Opportunities: European Patent Attorney

Would you like to work beyond Germany's borders? After two years of professional experience, you can sit the European Qualifying Examination to practise as a European Patent Attorney before the European Patent Office (EPO).

What You Should Bring

A completed degree in science or engineering
At least one year of professional experience in a technical field (e.g. through a doctorate)
An interest in legal issues and IP rights
